Spirit's View on Sol 127 (polar)

This polar-projection mosaic was created from navigation camera images that NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Spirit acquired on sol 127.  Spirit is sitting at site 48 looking back over her tracks as she continues to make her way toward the base of the Columbia Hills.  In this image, the hills can be seen silhouetted against the horizon on the far left side of the mosaic.  Spirit will reach the base of the hills by sol 160.
