Testing the Capture Magnet

This image of a test-copy capture magnet was taken after an experiment in a Mars simulation chamber at the University of Aarhus in Denmark.  It has some dust on it, but not as much as is currently on Spirit’s capture magnet.  The capture and filter magnets on NASA’s Mars Exploration Rovers were delivered by the Magnetic Properties team at the Center for Planetary Science in Copenhagen, Denmark.
