Release Date: 4/06/04 Image Filename: x_pubeng_Gusev_rim_sol68.tif Source Filename: 2p132407225ffl1800p2287l6m1 Summary Info: Pancam image taken on sol 68 by Spirit of the southeast direction including the ridge of Gusev crater. Submitter: Jascha Institution Cornell Theme Pancam Rover Spirit Sol of Observation 68 Earth Date of Obs. Credit: NASA/JPL/Cornell Gusev Crater Rim on Sol 68 NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover Spirit took this panoramic camera image of the southeast rim of Gusev crater on sol 68. Like the more recent image acquired on sol 91, it captures the crater wall as it descends into the mouth of the Ma’adim Vallis. The martian skies were dustier when this image was taken, making the crater rim more difficult to see. The sky appears noisier than in the sol 91 image because the panoramic camera was operating at a higher temperature. The same stretch and gamma correction were applied to this image as were applied to the sol 91 image to make the crater rim more visible. Approved by: Jascha John Grant - SOWG Chair
